Akim Fleming and his partner Rajiv Ralph were murdered on February 27, 2024 near their 111 Hickory Tree Road home. Both men were shot in the early morning hours. A black SUV, or possibly 2 vehicles, were seen fleeing the scene.
The two men were shot at around 4:40 a.m. just 500 metres from their apartment just south of Lawrence Avenue West and Weston Road. The couple had lived in the apartment for a couple of years. Neighbours called 911 and reported hearing gunfire. One of the men was near the parking garage of the building, and another lying on grass near the curb – one of the men was screaming.
Neighbours report that it took at least 10 minutes for the first ambulance to arrive. The men were reportedly liked by neighbours who wrote messages and left flowers at their apartment door.
News reports indicate Ralph (31) and Fleming (33) both had minor criminal offenses that did not appear to be significant enough to suggestive a motive for the shooting.
